{photo cred: weheartit}So...I posted something the other day about how we do not necessarily control our own actions or thoughts, but rather or brains do. Sure, you might say that is still us, but is it really? I was reading my psychology book today and one of the most basic ideas of psychology and one of the many building blocks to what we have today is the idea that the unconscious part of our mind holds things that we don't particularly know about. At least not consciously. It's the idea that we say things or do things without realizing it because it is our true feeling, but only exists in the unconscious state. This is where dreams are said to develop from, our wants, our desires. Not only that, but it is what gives us our personalities, our motivations and can even explain mental disorders. This is all part of Sigmund Freud's theory.
Not only that, but B.F. Skinner once stated that "free will is an illusion." Our brains only react to that which we encounter, therefor we do not control our own actions. Whatever exteriour stimulus we encounter is what causes us to do the things we do. So in reality, do we really have control? Or is it all by coincidence?
In the end, we're taking blame for things that aren't even our fault.
